Hello to all!

I just wanted to say EID Mubarak to you all. If you don't know what Eid is - let me explain. Its the festival that marks the end of Ramadan; something over a billion Muslims are celebrating at this time.

Remember how myself, Ilyas and Yassir were fasting during orientation. Will Ramadan ended yesterday and today is EID, our holiday marking the end of fasting.

Though I can't speak for all Muslims, but usually the day comprises of going to the Mosque in the morning for a special prayer and then visiting with friends and family and eating. Its a time to celebrate, see one another and just be thankful.

I thought it would be interesting to blog about this even though it doesn't have any direct link to my role within TIG. But thought you guys would want to know about it.

Perhaps Ilyas and Yassir could share what they are doing for EID.

Anyways, until next time, take care

Tosh

Oh, and there is a second EID in two months that marks the important religious event when GOD asked Abraham to kill his son Ishmael, but in the end GOD told Abraham not to. We don't have a month of fasting for this EID, but rather we usually slaughter an animal and distribute its meat to family, friends and the poor.

Eid Mubarak !
Hey Tosh,

I was just thinking of posting a blog about the Eid elfitr until I saw MyTIG and found that you took the initiative, so thanks for this !

Well, your description is right, actually, during the Eid, muslims go to the mosque on the morning to pray and then they visit relatives and friends and share the happiness of Al-Eid with them, they call their family members in other parts of the world (like Morocco or Bangladesh :)) and they enjoy the delicious moroccan food :) well the delicious foods in general.

Finally, as you said, Eid Al Adha is the 2nd Eid incha allah in 2 months.

All the best,
Yassir

Definition of Eid Elfitr
Definition: Eid ul-Fitr or Id-Ul-Fitr (Arabic: عيد الفطر ‘Īdu l-Fiṭr), often abbreviated to Eid, is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity", while Fiṭr means "to break the fast" (and can also mean "nature", from the word "fitrah"); and so the holiday symbolizes the breaking of the fasting period.

Happy belated Eid
I think you and yassir covered everything about Eid Al Fitr which celebrates the end of Ramadan. Just one thing that I would like to add is the fact that muslims wear nice clothes during this day :)

Cheers,

ilyes
